I stand my statement, Gaels will ease through the Championship once again." Castlerahans movement very good too even in first half but final ball was poor. They could have had a couple more goals as Gaels kickout was poor. Castlerahan were winning when reds happened and had a lot of momentum. Paul Smith was outstanding in second half while Andy Graham best player in first. On a sidenote, considering it was the top 2 teams in the county last night, it's fair to say there wasn't a great deal for a prospective Cavan senior manager to get excited about. Them three clubs you named have a habit of it. He'll kick an impossible point and then do that. I suppose many people only remember his best bits which is why there are calls for him to play county but he's a bit of an enigma. I doubt he's the answer for Cavan and I don't think he has put in the work away from the field to the same extent as smaller framed lads like Johnston and Mackey. Junior Championship starts this weekend, what are peoples thoughts ? Personally I think the physicality, skill and form of the Drumlane team leaves them best placed to take top honours. Knockbride to push them all the way with the blistering end they made to Division 2 and the great brand of football they play, I feel it could be a year too soon for them however. Kildallan to take up their place as perennial darkhorses but I feel when they didn't make the final last year they missed their best shot at it. Cavan Gaels 6/4 Ramor United 4/1 Kingscourt 9/2 Castlerahan 5/1 Killygarry 16/1 Lavey 16/1 Cootehill 16/1 Ballinagh 20/1 Lacken 20/1 Crosserlough 25/1 Gowna 33/1 Shercock 40/1 Odds for the senior, strange to see Ballingh, Lacken, Crosserlough and Gowna all a bigger price than Lavey and Cootehill, bizarre. My predictions Kill v Drung : Tight game expected and a local derby, I hear Drung have a few players back so expect them to win by 3 or 4. Templeport v Drumalee : Templeport nowhere near as strong as they could be, still expect it to be a tight game with Drumalee to come through by 2 or 3. Knockbride v Munterconnacht : Knockbride one of the form teams coming into this year's championship with a good young side. Munterconnacht drifted away in division 3 after a good start. I'd expect knockbride to come through by 4 or 5. Kilinkere v Mountnugent : Kilinkere the marginal tournament favourites against a Mountnugent a team who had a good league campaign. Kilinkere with that extra quality to come through by 2 or 3. Denn v Kildallon : Should be a cracker between 2 evenly matched sides. Both teams will hope to have a say in this year's championship whatever the result on Sunday. Could go either way. Kildallon by 1. Shannon Gaels v Corlough : I'd expect this to be a comfortable victory for the gaels. Been some close encounters between the sides over the past few years but Shannon Gaels seem stronger this year. The Gaels have the quality to go deep in this tournament. Gaels by 10. Drumlane v Maghera : Drumlane will have bigger fish to fry in the coming weeks. Even though we can't really gauge Drumlane yet, I would make Denn the new favourites after the weekend. Very impressive scoreline in beating a decent Kildallan team. Good win for Templeport as well but that probably just means that Drumalee or not contenders now rather than Templeport are I would think. Was expecting Knockbride to beat the Munchies more comfortably. Killinkere conceded a big enough tally against a poor Mountnugent aswell but they may have taken the foot of the pedal with the game won at half time. Drumlane v Shannon Gaels - Drumlane by 2. I think McLoughlin might be fit to do a decent job on Connolly if tasked with that, which if he does will leave them struggling for scores. There's not that many Jason McLoughlin's in the JFC and I'm sure Ryan Connolly is a good lad but I also recall that he was going to be a guaranteed starter for Cavan Seniors and run riot there around January 2017 so I will hold fire on believing he has the c'ship sewn up for them already. Kildallan v Drumalee - Kildallan by 1. Expect a bit of a Drumalee backlash after defeat last week but Kildallan should have a small bit more quality to struggle through. Munterconnaught v Mountnugent - Can't separate these - Draw Drung v Denn - Denn by 8/10 Templeport St. Aidan's GAA v Knockbríde - Knockbride by 1, expecting them to do well in this c'ship but think they will get ran close again here. Be interesting to see in this game what the point gap between the 2nd worst and worst team is. I'd say it 10 between Corlough and the teams above and another 10 between them and Maghera.
