So should the game v Offaly last season but it turned out to be anything but routine.... If they head to Aughrim thinking they will get it handy they will be in for a surprise

Indeed and what an abysmal day that was for Cavan. I would not take anything for granted down there. We are far from world beaters and Wicklow traditionally in Aughrim will put up a fight. We should win but I'd be happy to get out with any sort of win.

nothing to indicate Cavan should be overconfident here. Wicklow if they look closely enough will see plenty of reason why they can win. Jimjo (Cavan) - Posts: 70 - 29/05/2018 12:39:30 2105239 Link 0 |

I don't think I'd go quite that far, Wicklow in 2009 beat Longford, Fermanagh, Cavan and Down before eventually losing to Kildare. This current Wicklow team didn't win a league game in Div 4 including loses to London and Leitrim, they beat an Offaly side trying to get their manager sacked before being thrashed by a Dublin team playing in fifth gear. I was not confident in 2009 going to Aughrim that we'd take anything from the game, I have resons to be way more confident this time around. (Not over confident but confident). cavandub (Cavan) - Posts: 67 - 29/05/2018 13:12:42 2105259 Link 0 |

Ye of little faith. We'll cruise by Wicklow, and I'll even go as far as saying that we'll reach the Super 8s. We had a bad day at the office against a good Donegal side. We were a bit naive with our defending, but we'll learn from our mistakes. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 29/05/2018 13:36:40 2105274 Link 0 |

Ok, i wasn't at the game and i'll not put up to know much about our crop of players. one thing i do know is that a large chunk of them are still underage next year and perhaps will be a better set up outfit next year too. they're effectively a year early, they ran into a Donegal team who were ulster champions two years ago in minor and have been putting in huge work. their manager is perhaps a senior manager in waiting and has revolutionised his club Glenswilly. you could possibly be looking at the all Ireland champions and i don't say that with any hesitation. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 29/05/2018 15:01:39 2105305 Link 0 |

"a Dublin team playing in fifth gear". Are you sure about that ?. I could have sworn they were in about second.

Mr Goldrick Tomsmith here Yes wrong tread for this, but you do make some very good points in some treads and I implore you to keep posting (while I know to apologize is a sign of weakness) and get some preposting advice from a good friend. But back to the qualifiers I feel that this team should not be described as a young team. We won was it 3 or 4 U 21 titles a few years ago. Where are these players. It would be an interesting tread to see where have these great players gone. I feel that we need to keep all our good players involved tomsmith (Cavan) - Posts: 4165 - 31/05/2018 10:21:25 2105867 Link 0 |

It really is hard to know how to approach the Wicklow match. So what if Cavan win by 8 or 9 points using the same team that was blown away by Donegal. That will achieve nothing. I would rather see something new and promising and win by 4 or 5 than to play safe. Positions 3, 6, 9,11 and 14 should roll off the tongue but this team needs answers to problems here. Are the players in the current panel? I don't know anymore. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 31/05/2018 13:28:12 2105963 Link 0 |

Less than a week to go now. Let's get a big Cavan crowd down to Aughrim to support the lads and get them over the line. GallantJohnJoe (Cavan) - Posts: 329 - 02/06/2018 12:23:53 2106444 Link 0 |

Lads it's not the players fault .. your manager will only play man to man football. He dosnt want to play systems or sweepers... kupa (Monaghan) - Posts: 281 - 03/06/2018 01:21:46 2106631 Link 0 |

You know what, you're dead right about the systems and sweepers thing. Very good of your lads to underline your point and show how effective systems can be today.
