Do away with the 2 pointers and the handpassing will reduce by over 50%.

Too much emphasis on the 2 pointer now, the 3 up , tap and go have really saved the game, in my opinion the 2 pointer could go and we would see even more direct football and teams trying to score a goal rather than a two pointer.

Advanced mark can go also.

Morris scored 14 of Kingscourts 18 points in a championship win yesterday. He's been the best player in the Cavan club championship again this year, top 5 forward in the country when he's fit and firing. Can't wait to see him dominate for Meath in 27, special player.

2027 is a big, big year for this team and arguably for the game in Meath for the remainder of the decade.

There's no doubt about it at this stage, this team is the best we have had since the very early 00s. 2025 as a whole, and backed up by this season's league campaign and the championship win in Celtic Park cement that in my mind. People will have good memories of the team from 07-11 and there was some good days then for sure, but overall in hindsight that era was most certainly a false dawn for Meath men's football.


On their day, this team can genuinely roll over anyone. These guys are decorated minors, U20s, Sigerson, and Tailteann Cup winners. They have all the attributes of the great Meath teams. However, the inconsistency shown in the Brennan era in the games vs. Louth last year, Donegal (which could be forgiven given the circumstances), and particularly against Westmeath (disaster), Cork and Mayo this year are concerning. In my view, and it pains me to say it, but the loss against Mayo in particular was in part down to bizarre positional switches at an early part of the game and the team giving away momentum and not getting it back. Injuries notwithstanding, I am still sore after that game. Mayo deserved their all-Ireland and I was delighted for them, but we should have put them out in Castlebar that day.

The team is no longer a "young" team in my eyes and need to go a step further in their development, and more importantly need to be willing to go that next step, which many teams cant. I genuinely, genuinly can see an All-Ireland in this team, 100%, but I can also see another false dawn taking shape if they dont take the bull by the horns in 27 and have a serious rattle at silverware come championship.

I totally agree that this team isn't a young team anymore. Players are slowly entering their primes and we will almost certainly have our last season with Bryan Menton and Donal Keogan, two servants to their clubs and county. We need our key lads to step up, and for new faces to emerge considering many of our quality players are out injured. This new flexibility could see us develop a natural centre half back, which is a position we've struggled with in the Robbie Brennan era.

We should be aiming to win the All-Ireland this year. That was Mayo's goal. They weren't looking for a Connacht title and a respectable QF-SF finish. They wanted to WIN it.

As you say, we need to grab 2027 by the collar. I'm already relishing the thought of seeing them play again, come January.

Meath are a really good team on their day and can play chaotic football better than most teams. If they add a few players into mix, particularly the likes of Liam Kelly and Jamie Murphy more regualarly and hold mostly what they have, they will rightly be in mix next year. They have to really go after games. The draws and whether they are home or away have a huge bearing. I would be quietly confident of a big year.

i think there will be very little talk of meath next year unlss start like a train in league and end up in a final or close to it, but if we have an average league and stay up there wont be any talk or focus on us, thats when we can do damage. westmeath will be having to reach a leinster final to avoid tailteann cup , that would be a huge set back to them, louth could be in serious relegation danger and may also flirt with tailteann cup, i think kildare could rattle likes of louth or westmeath in leinster, remmeber how close they were to beating westmeath this year in tullamore? would westmeath have even won tailteann cup then? draws are huge plus injuries. 3 away matches last year? only team in the country that had that. mayo staying injury free was major hing to winning the all ireland .

Louth in relegation battle? Based on what? They have serious fire power up front and some great young lads coming through. Can't be naive going into the 2026/2027 season. We have lost vital players that will be hard replaced so we will have to learn to live with the hand we dealt. Even with these players last year we still struggled massively. I think the onus should be on staying in division 1 and competing in Leinster. Not putting such heavy pressure on securing silverware but rather building on performances for the next 2-3 years.

I believe AK going in with Armagh & CS going in with Dublin. I would imagine RB is happy enough to go back to his tried and trusted management team from year 1. Great to see so many of our county players showing good form so far in their respective championships.

If true and this proves to be the case, I think RB will be happy to maintain core team of Conor Gillespie and Shane Supple plus perhaps at least one addition. Defensively Meath struggled until later end of year and AK took alot of critism for that. Neither AK or CS were ever listed as selectors. Would like to see more Meath based personnel involved to be honest.

No disrespect to you Redser but Morris ain't a top fifteen forward in this country .. never mind 5. He's never put 2-3 games back to back in a Meath jersey which top class forwards do. Go back and look at his scoring last season during the championship.. think it was 8 points across 4 games. Kinsella had more than him in 2 games.

The lad had a terrible championship and Robbie should be looking at fresh options. There's a cohort of lads Andy McEntee brought in in 2020 and for the most part they've never developed beyond wildly inconsistent players. To win all Ireland titles you need 6 forwards consistently scoring 3-5 points a game and a bench adding 4-8 points. That cohort from 2020 are on borrowed time with lads like Murphy, commons, mcivor and Gallagher coming through.

Look at Mayo, Beirne and McDonald, 19 and no fear on the big stage. Too many times I've seen those lads from 2020 fail to deliver and maybe it's time others got their chance. As Moran said earlier in the year he saw them as Croke park players and they took their lumps early in the league, but when it mattered they were ready.

He scored 1-4, 0-6, 0-4 and 1-5 in 4 matches in a row mid league this season and that wasnt looking too far back to show he can be that forward and your statement was a bit rash... im sure there are many more 2 / 3 games in a row that he has scored well. I agree he can be inconsistent and frustrating but can you be clear, are you saying to cut him loose or hust that we need someone up there alongside his that is more consistent ???? I agree with the latter and I also agree with you that we need a consistent spread of scorers. Keeping banty fit is key, need way more from costello or he is the one id be saying could struggle to keep his place. Plays for 10 mins then drifts out for 20 way too much. kinsella injury is so dissapointing for him and the county

'To win all Ireland titles you need 6 fowards consistently scoring 3-5 points a game' is simply just untrue. What 6 fowards did Mayo have scoring 3-5 points a game. There centre foward Paul Towey barely scored for them, Diarmuid O'Connor didn't score in the all Ireland final, Conor Loftus who started against Meath barely scored.

Jordan Morris has been the most improved player for Meath in the Robbie Brennan era. If he wasn't playing against Cavan or Louth at the start of the league we wouldn't have won either game and he was brilliant against Kildare. He is also one of our main sources of assists. He was carrying an injury throughout the championship which was fairly well known. Talk of looking at fresh options instead of Morris is laughable.

A, fairly, neutral opinion. Which Meath forward, under Robbie Brennan, plays with less fear than Morris? Are ye, at times, too reliant on Morris magic? It's true that Darragh and Kobe played with less fear than previous Mayo forwards, who had to listen to 'sure Mayo don't have the forwards' year on year. But Andy got the balance right, arguably our best balance for 30 years, when we were over-reliant on Ciaran Mc, Cillian then Ryan. We turned a player of the year into a great freetaker! I'm nearly 11 years living in Meath and I think ye should be more optimistic than any year since 2001. I won't pretend to know who these young lads are coming through, would know a bit about LGFA from going to club games. Robbie Brennan is a very good manager, still relatively inexperienced at intercounty levels. Progress didn't look as good as 2025 but ye can plan the season guaranteed to be in All Ireland series and aim to peak later in the season compared to 2026. I think he's the man to bring ye further but balance and confidence both, are needed.

Any news on other long term injuries from squad excluding the serious knee injuries already known? James Conlon has been out for a number of weeks while Jsck Flynn is yet to receive game time for Ratoath despite being named to start each week. Brian O'Halloran also seem to be out for a while.
