Yes, Moycullen & Associates Inc. looking best placed to win it. It'll be interesting to see how their recruitment strategy will pay off in future years. Quite a few of their underage teams are falling off the top pack in the various age groups. I guess soldiering for years underage only to see your slot filled with some intercounty journeyman from Ulster or wherever they'll find 'em might be a bit demoralising for the local lads! Grassroots development is our remit in gaa clubs, not running the best draft! togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 1143 - 31/08/2026 16:46:17 2692181 Link 1 |

Of course, nothing against any other club but with James relegated the city would only have one club playing senior football which is pretty poor really.

I have to agree with this, my club are miles off it but id rather see Corofin or Salthill win it rather than them, at least they have soldiered with there club all the way from under 8s

Indeed, Ruairi Lavelle, Michael Donnellan, Alan Keirns, Maurice Sheridan and Donal O'Sullivan often reminisce about the good old days. The go games at U8 and U10 and then a swim from the Blackrock tower.

They certainly weren't a good comparison to use, for obvious reasons, however I will say that the current team is much more homegrown than previous versions. Their top players all came up the underage ranks, Maher, Finnerty, O'Flaherty, Sweeney.

Hopefully the "McStay" new rules will be adapted. They will put a good deal of extra pressure on sideways football teams to come up with a new plan. Goalies will need more in the locker than drive it out as far as you can. The new rules, while a big improvement, as they currently exist have not delivered enough in terms of open football. I still think swarm tackling is very negative and disadvantages a player who has won possession. giveitlong (Galway) - Posts: 1339 - 03/09/2026 09:36:53 2692496 Link 0 |

Wouldn't have Moycullen as clear favourites as that. Salthill very close to beating them last year, despite Maher getting injured during the final. Think Salthill are moving better again this year and have Thompson back again, so look good value at these odds currently. Hard to call the winner of Tuam V MM in the pre-lims. Monivea gave MIlltown loads of it in the group match last year so might be worth a few bob this time round. Triffic (Galway) - Posts: 188 - 03/09/2026 14:32:38 2692547 Link 0 |

Pádraic Joyce gone some will be happy but not for me, coaches needed replacing than Joyce himself IMO and could well appoint a downgrade. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 973 - 03/09/2026 19:25:14 2692598 Link 0 |

I saw some of those. Handpass limit will be very hard for a ref to police on top of everything else. If McStay doesn't change the free rule whereby you just leave the ball on the ground instead of having to hand it back, they're not looking properly at what actually needs fixing.

Two years after Cian O'Neill left Joyce moves on. Joyce had the job two years before Cian O'Neill was brought in. The years without Cian O'Neill were very poor. Kerry moving on from oniell as the new game doesn't suit the tactics was the writing on the wall.

Yes Salthill are probably every bit as godd as their neighbours but unproven hence the odds. Monivea miiltown is the toss of a coin too i agree. Tuam mountbellew moylough is not hard to call in my opinion, should be a formality for the stars.
