We only got one last year for reaching the 4 so were never going to get a couple with a last 8 exit based on how the judges appears to just focus on the All-Ireland final and semi-finals for their selection.
Saying all that such awards is meant to "honour the best individual performers from the entire season" so Enda Browne can consider himself unlucky to miss out.

Surely Diarmuid Murtagh should have a great chance having had a great national league campaign and was also one of the top scores in the championship; including 1-10 against Mayo in Castlebar and 0-7 against Galway in the Connacht final.
His score/shot percentage was top class all year.
Do the selectors only view the matches in July?

Enda Browne played v Derry, was subbed off late on, really shouldn't have played as had injury and sat out training sessions in the build up to that All-Ireland Quarter-final.
General view is you need to reach All-Ireland Quarter-final at least to win All Star but that wasn't the case for Enda Smith when he won his or Sam Mulroy last year with Louth.

The six forwards selected it probably will be as I would expect 5 of the 6 awards to go to Kerry,Mayo forwards. Last one to a Dub as journalists always give at least one to Dublin when they reach the last four at least.
If that does happen then Dublin's poor form in Division 1 and Leinster championship, plus All-Ireland series defeat to Louth will be ignored.

By my calculations and not having played as many games as some of the contenders he scored 5-61 between division 1 of the national league against the top teams and also in the championship.
He scored a very impressive 4-30 in the National League and only David Clifford scored more. He was also one of the top scorers on the championship with 1-31 (having played fewer games); with 1-10 against All Ireland Champions Mayo, 0-8 against Tyrone, and 0-7 against Galway in the Connacht final. Monaghan were well on top in midfield in the last game and he got very limited ball (not all his fault) but still managed 0-4.
If he does not get a nomination (AT LEAST) the whole team of the YEAR idea is a joke in my opinion.

In this new game the Roscommon forwards will have to work on tackling and getting back the field to help defend at times. See the work rate in that regard from Mayo a few weeks ago in the final. Are our forwards up to that going forward? Big challenge ahead.

Roscommon did at times press high up the field to get turnovers but not consistent through games probably because it is so energy sapping. I think one of the biggest learnings from Andy Moran instead of completely copying a teams style is have a style that plays to your teams strengths. Everyone is on about heavy metal football taking over and maybe it will but it is extremely taxing and to use a crude comparison with another sport, Klopp only won one title with his team. There is still hay to be made kicking over or around a press which still carries a huge risk of being opened up.
If they commit again i think Enda, Stack and Diarmuid need to be used sparingly in the league if possible. Have them primed for business end of championship.

I see on gaa highlights of the year in the Indo, Darragh's Heneghan's goals feature as does Roscommon's three provincial titles with players from 25 clubs across Roscommon involved in those wins which is a great spread.

Took in three SFC matches last weekend. Made the long trip to Woodmount to see Pearses v Roscommon Gaels. An impressive first half by Gaels but they collapsed remarkably in second half. Paul Carey dominated and Pearses looked good in the finish with more players to return. Worringly for Gaels both Lambe and Oates were taken off. On Saturday went to Boyle to see them play Clann. Boyle without Smith and Cregg finished strong and were never really in trouble. Having seen both, Clann probably should have enough for Gaels in next match but only just. Finally Faithleachs v Castlerea. I expected more from Castlerea but it didnt happen. On paper, Oran look strongest in that group. Is it all academic I wonder. Still Brigids to lose and Pearses probably best placed to upset them

Round 2 of the Club Championship this weekend:
Padraig Pearses vs Boyle: Game of the weekend here, Pearses were impressive in the 2nd half against Ros Gaels and Boyle scored a big win without Daire Cregg and Enda Smith. Tight one here but going to just give Pearses the edge here, they will be a force to reckon with when Colleran gets back.
Clan na Gael vs Roscommon Gaels: Huge game here, Neither side will want to go into the last round needing a win. Roscommon Gaels were so poor the last day but had notable absentees. Clan to win this by 5+ points.
Strokestown vs Michael Glaveys: Another good game on the cards here. Glaveys will look to kick start their championship and stayed with a strong Brigits side for the guts of 40 minutes. Strokestown know a win here will guarantee them knockout football. Finn and McGinley were excellent the last day out. Going to go Strokestown by 2 points but a draw might be a good bet.
Western Gaels v St. Brigids: Formality here. Comfortable Brigits win by 10+ points. Western Gaels did well the last day out but may have to go to the well again on the final day, another relegation battle looks likely.
Oran vs St. Faithleachs: Oran made light work of Elphin the last day out while Faitleachs 11 point win flattered them, although they had a large volume of wides. Oran to win this by 5 points if they can keep the Murtagh brothers and Mikey Dunne relatively quiet. They should have too much up top with Darragh Walsh, Fitzpatrick and Lawless in midfield.
Castlerea vs Elphin: Huge game here to see who avoids a relegation battle. Although technically Elphin could lose and beat Faithleachs in the final round (if Faithleachs lose to Oran), a win here really is a must. Castelrea looked decent in patches the last time out but ran out of steam, while Elphin will hope to have Killoran back. Going with Elphin by 3 points.

Weekend Predictions:
Senior
Padraig Pearses v Boyle: Should be a cracker. Hard to call but Boyle to shade it, especially if Smith and Cregg or even one of them return.
Elphin v Castlerea: Elphin with lads returning should be competitive here, Castlerea showed positive signs against Faithleachs and the scoreline doesnt give a true reflection of how close they were. Castlerea to shade it but it should be very close.
Western Gaels v St Brigids: Brigids by however much they want.
St Faithleachs v Oran: Both sides coming in off the back of wins. Very tough to call but Oran are one of the best teams at getting results in the group stages in Roscommon so i think they will shade it.
Strokestown v Michael Glaveys: Huge game here for both teams, Glaveys having 0 points and Strokestown knowing this is their last opportunity to get points with Brigids to come. I think Glaveys' county men with a bit more help from the supporting cast should get over the line here.
Clann na nGael v Ros Gaels: Ros Gaels down a lot of players and unsure if any are back for this one. Clann to do enough but expecting a tight game.
Intermediate
Eire Og v St Croans: Expecting a big response from Eire Og here and should win this.
Barrys v Tulsk: Tulsk should win this easily.
Shannon Gaels v Pearses: Both teams coming in off the back of losses but Shannon Gaels to do enough here.
