Most Counties wont get started into club championship until August, regardless of when their county gets knock out. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 2045 - 05/06/2026 11:29:59 2678078 Link 0 |

There's a few intermediate and junior premier games this weekend. It will all kick off in earnest next weekend. David Clifford could end up playing for 12 consecutive weekends. An absolutely bat **** crazy hectic schedule! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 31/07/2026 09:27:56 2688245 Link 0 |

Club football in the Tyrone Division 1 league keeps getting weirder. The 3 biggest towns in Tyrone, Omagh, Dungannon and Coalisland are sitting bottom, 2nd and 3rd from bottom. All 3 can go down and all 3 have won the championship in recent years. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2946 - 09/08/2026 12:04:20 2689157 Link 0 |

Bizarre alright. Good to get an insight into what is happening in another county. Be interesting to see how it plays out. Last year's county finalists Austin Stacks got off to a winning start. Round 1 losers need a good response next week or they'll be facing the restored relegation playoffs now that the expansion of the championship completed last year. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 09/08/2026 20:04:05 2689217 Link 0 |

Straight knockout in Tyrone, one of the bottom 3 needs to win the championship to stay up.

... The final round of the group stage this weekend.. Nearly all knockout after this, with the exception of divisional teams being guaranteed at least two games when they enter the county championship. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 21/08/2026 13:51:45 2690760 Link 0 |

... Na Gaeil beat Ghaeltacht to win their group. Na Gaeil and Stacks went into the hat for a bye to the semi finals. Na Gaeil were plucked from the hat. Stacks will play Rathmore and Milltown will play Kenmare in the quarter finals. Ghaeltacht and Templenoe will contest the relegation semi final. Dingle are safe. A one point win keeping them out of the relegation playoffs. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 23/08/2026 19:03:46 2690979 Link 0 |

Down championship started up this week with wins for Kilcoo, Carryduff and Clonduff off the big teams, Burren play tomorrow night and should be comfortable enough with round 2 draw straight after game. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 769 - 23/08/2026 20:08:56 2690987 Link 0 |

Intermediate and Premier Junior quarter finals take centre stage this weekend. Fossa host Listowel and Glenflesk travel to Laune Rangers in the intermediate championship. Listry host Senans in a perceived battle of 2 of the top 3 at premier junior level. The reports are all positive from all championship levels so far. Seems to be some great battles in store for this weekend! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 28/08/2026 14:11:19 2691702 Link 0 |

Those 4 clubs would be Senior if Kerry had a senior club championship like everyone else. The winner of Kerry intermediate championship is always then favorite for the All ireland. Their junior winner has a similar advantage over everyone else in the provincial/All Ireland series. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 2045 - 01/09/2026 10:17:07 2692257 Link 0 |

It's slightly better now that there are 10 senior club teams. It was only 8 for a long time. But absolutely, they still have a big advantage at intermediate and junior provincial and All-Ireland level. I've posted many times on here about it.

An annual discussion! Kerry has competitive club structures. Just the way it is. Many counties have too many senior clubs but don't want to address the issue. The divisional clubs playoff in a separate section. 10 senior and a maximum 6 divisional clubs achieves the limit imposed by Croke Park.

No need for any discussion. Irrespective of what the correct number of senior championship club teams in any county should be or is, as it presently stands the Kerry intermediate and junior champions have a very distinct advantage going into the Munster and All Ireland club championships.
