My job is not important at all but I have the advantage of being able to watch training unlike you and many others and I get on with all the lad's. I also know who is unfit or fit to play another advantage. So you see it would be called inside information and people like you thrive on nit picking my posts.
As an individual the names I mention are my opinion but I would not proceed to name the 20 for Sunday or any other evening for that matter.

Offaly will be in the same boat as us regarding lifting the heads. In fact they are in a worse position. They suffered a worse defeat, have less positives to take from it than us and only a week turnaround while we have two. We need to get stuck in from the start and give them no cause for belief. We are rightly favourites and it really is a game we should be winning. Like you said hopefully we get the job done, gain a bit of confidence and most importantly pick up no more injuries.

Ciaran Brady unlucky not to start and all the full forward line lucky to start , i would prefer Dillon and Madden to start as they are part of future. Clerkin does not appear to be a scoring threat and johnson and mc dermott have best days behind them, if offaly are poor guys who can not do at higher level might appear better than they are.

Very disappointed to see the team Mattie has lined out, I can understand why so many walks away from the Cavan panel, Players there, that didn't perform against Monaghan, still getting there starting place.Its a strong enough team to beat Offaly probably will see some of them will have great game and score plenty against a weaker team, but going forward we will just achieve false hope. Maybe in" Mattie's world" there all great but sadly as supporters we see differently. Hopefully he doesnt do the bizare tactic of swapping Mc Kiernan and buchannan with each other from mid field to full forward every 5 mins while putting Martin Reilly as a midfielder.

Martin Reilly as a midfielder actually worked. He kept Kieran Hughes quiet.
This line up is very disappointing. I'm not going to slate individuals but at least three of that team were anonymous against Monaghan. Ciaran Brady apart from Mackey was our best player versus Monaghan and still doesn't start. No trying under 21s in full forward line in what should be a straight forward victory and Fergal Reilly one of our most consistent players in league still not getting a chance.
The more things change the more they stay the same. I was hoping a new manager meant new ideas but some of the same traits are there. That is not a slight against Terry because I admire the job he done but he had his time done. Players needed a new voice.
Whatever happens at least it will be fabulous.

What a disappointment that team selection is! It is not likely that there will be changes before throw in, I mean what is the point in naming a dummy team for a 1st round qualifier against Offaly!?
Surely Ciaran Brady, Fergal Reilly, Joe Dillon, Tomas Corr, and maybe young Connolly deserved a chance to start. It is harsh on Connor Madden to get axed, ok he was anonymous for 25 minutes the last day but some others weren't seen for the 70 minutes! Niall Murray could have been moved to half back instead of being dropped altogether.
I would have given McKiernan, Johnston, McEnroe, Killian Clarke and McDermott the day off instead. These are our 'big names' but haven't delivered much on those reputations when it has really mattered. A win without these men on the pitch would be a great signal to the panel as a whole.
If Mattie had been courageous with team selection he would have the backing of the true Blue support. As it is now, I doubt too many care too much either way about this game.

Lads a bit of calm wouldn't go amiss on this forum.
All the complaining during the league was that there was too much chopping and changung and that Mattie didn't know his best team.
Now he retains 13 of the team that was the width of a post from drawing with Monaghan and ye are still complaining!
Some people don't value the qualifiers but it's the route 28 teams take every year and it has serves many teams well, ourselves included.
The team named is close to our strongest and should beat offaly and hopefully gain momentum from there.

Moynagh gave the ball away a lot in the first half and also allowed McManus waltz past him for the goal. Clerkin never got into the game at all and looked out of his depth.

I am not knocking the team but you have to be honest when you name a team it has to be on form and on last sunday' weeks performance several on that list could not should not be automatic selections. Couldn't agree more, cannot for life of me understand the constant selection of the above 2players. Both could run for Ireland but there it ends.
IMO the team selection for this game is a lazy selection that suggests manager can't wait to have the season over. I Have watched Cavan for years , the past 6 months we have got worse with every game. Honest truth. The games up lads. Comeback TH all is forgiven.

I dont know if I'd put Moynagh in the same category, I taught he played good apart from the McManus incident, I think Moynagh best position would be starting half forward or half back played as a link between backs and forwards . M Reilly does try and play that role but is too slow and negative of moving the ball forward , He has a bad habit of stopping and turning back which slows the attack down. Pity Mattie doesn't read the hogan stand , the team I said should start is better than the one he has starting I don't think many would disagree . Thumbs up if you do , down if you don't :-)
