Murray departs Cork coaching role as Ricken remains as minor manager

Kevin Murray has stepped away from his role as Cork senior football coach.

The 1999 All-Ireland SHC winner's departure was confirmed at last night's county board meeting in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, leaving manager John Cleary with a void to fill in his set-up ahead of the new season. Murray is currently part of of his brother Paudie's senior hurling management team with St Finbarr's, who have qualified for the Cork SHC quarter-finals.

At the same meeting, Keith Ricken was reappointed as minor football manager for a third year after leading the Rebels to Tom Markham Cup glory this summer, while Cian O'Neill's appointment as senior hurling coach was also ratified.
