To be honest it's near impossible to tell where anyone is playing on the pitch including the goalkeeper. It has to be more confusing to the team unless they are a well tuned mind machine. It must be confusing for those on the sideline as well.

I agree with Sean that pencilling in Conroy at corner back is a bit ridiculous. Every knows he wont play there ( if he plays at all ) so why insult the intelligence of the paying public . I don't know who the management think they re fooling , certainly not Kerry as I doubt they know any of our players let alone the position they play.
On another note ( and we discussed this before ) why is there always such a drop off of players from the panel every year.
Take this year and I can think of three players offhand - Bryan Magee , Ado Cole and James Farrelly . I,d say Magee & Cole played nearly every League and Championship game last year and should have been back better this year with all that experience behind them . Farrelly played at least as many games as Galligan last year and kept us in a lot of games and was improving all the time. Now , for whatever reason , they,re gone and we start all over again with new lads . Mc Cormack from Ballyhaise is another ( played at midfield in the Championship and now disappeared as well )
Seems to me we,re forever building and getting nowhere. Hope I m wrong this year , we ll live in hope - again.
Anyway best of luck to all tomorrow

If you are coming the main Dublin road you will be guaranteed to meet at least one if not two. Keep an eye from Virginia near the Lisgrey House and Upper Lavey or near the Apple green filling station 6 miles from Cavan safe journey see you all in Breifni enjoy the game. Sean

Good Luck to the lads today , it's a pit disappointing that they aren't that bothered by the league and have our best players available on the panel today, but as they said there building for the championship. On the good note Kerry doesn't have a good record traveling to ulster . There could br a few draws in div 1 today

Not interested in the League you must be joking the money the county get from playing in Division 1 helps the treasurer and the county no ends with bills. If the management have no interested in the league and the committee that selected them they should all be removed for we the supporters fork out the money to travel to these games only to walk away disappointed with bad results. It has to be the objective off the county set up to try and win and draw as many matches as possible. Not F*** about with the league. Messing about with the micky mouse competition the McKenna cup is fine but by no way the league. When you are playing the top teams you get stronger going forward. So the first aim is to make sure we stay in Division 1 let the rest wait.

Showing yet again that we have the ability but not the bottle or the nous to win games at this level.

Relegation beckons.

Even at half time you just knew it was going to end like that.. Great performance in the first half but there is just no winning mentality.. we are specialists in losing tight games.

That is very harsh. Cavan outplayed Kerry for long periods and had 2 of their best players taken out at key times. A typical kerry league win, scraping through.
I would be more encouraged that they can survive after today. Results eleswhere went our way this weekend with galway tyrone and the bluffers next door all losing.
We should be able to beat 2 out of 3 of these plus roscommon. That would be enough. Get on board.

Dreadful second half, very very poor game management.
Very slow on the line to make changes.
Plenty of Cavan gaels men on the pitch by the end .keep the locals happy.

All I've got is that I'm €20 down & a head cold for my troubles.

The difference between the two teams was the free taker.

We gave an exhibition of scoring first half but in the second half we were nervous and it showed. Too many unforced errors and Kerry saw that and pushed up and pressured us.

Still, considering this is Mickey's second game in charge and considering it was Kerry, I was delighted with what I saw.

Kerry men around me were raving about Madden, Galligan & Holla.

Kerry did what they had to do and more. Cavan scored twice in the second half. When this happened with other managers all hell broke lose looking for their heads but nothing here.
Come on the performance was terrible boring and sadly disappointing. As it stands I cannot see Cavan picking up any points but I suppose the laws of averages they might get one maybe two. Division 2 beckons and we have only played 2 games with another five to play

Dublin will win
Mayo will win
Monaghan will win
Tyrone will win
Roscommon well it will be a brave man to bet against them.

Wake up man!
They won't win a game in division one.
Poor all over the field & very very poor on the line.

We can already write off the Dublin game. That's a definite loss. Let's be realistic.
Mayo are re-juvinated under Horan and will more than likely beat us.
Remind me of our record against Tyrone and Roscommon there like a good man....
And finally Monaghan, a small county that are a shining example to the rest of Ireland, and deserve better than to be called "bluffers". They're a very good team who will be favourites to beat Cavan.

The proverbial game of two halves.

I thought after the Down match in Enniskillen last Summer that I'd never have the desire to watch Cavan again, but I went along today for a look. The first half was good, they played some decent stuff, put up a good score by half time. In fact Kerry were only in the game because of handy frees.

The second half was dire. They had no belief that they could close the game out and reverted to type. Lateral play across midfield, afraid to kick it long.

There is something seriously dysfunctional in the way football is coached in this county because we've seen the lateral play under three different managers now, and with different sets of players. Is it a lack of belief? Is it the way they're coached? Why can we never close games out when we're on top? We actually have the talent to compete with most teams, what we don't have is belief. It's very frustrating for supporters, we're constantly flattering to deceive.

With all due respect, being happy when your team lose is a sign that you've thrown in the towel. I don't care how good the performance is, a loss is a loss is a loss. With your mentality we're never going to make progress in this county.

Left The game today not inspired to go back.
Agree with poster a lot of Gaels men there at the end and not a lot to come on from the bench to lift it.
Mickey and Dermot need to cast the net a bit wider, panel top heavy with Gaels Crosserlough Gowna Lacken
Midfield?? Natural forwards, centre half back, centre half forward presence?? positions all need to be sorted.
Not good enough to say pity Gesroid not available there has to be more.
We are gonna have to be lucky to get out of this in Div 1
Good to see young Madden play well, shows what a player can do if you give him a chance to build his confidence.
Overall a bit of a worry

The manager is two games into his tenure (forget the McKenna Cup) and we've played two of the best teams in the country.
We've had several years of playing lateral football which won't be coached out of players overnight.
Give the man and the team some time.
I was at a Division 2 game last weekend and what I saw today was light years ahead of it.
