I suggest its a bit too early to answer those questions. We need to see any emerging talent in next few weeks. Anyway to me it seems management team are doing well on that score ,and content to leave that to them as they have the full picture.... we dont.
20024 i hope to see the continued planting of a healthy culture where responsibility and standards are uppermost in everything we do from the top table downwards to training sessions etc. It has to be a concern that at the AGM a few months ago some key positions went uncontested. Thats not healthy to begin with. It will be interesting to see what vision and initiatives the top table and clubs come up with to deal with that.I would like to see a TONE of Refresh and update, This will need honest stocktaking of skillsets and standards in all critical areas Development to meet current required standards would have to be part of the agenda .The top table has to take full responsibility for establishing and maintaining standards in everything we do.If that requires assistance for themselves so be it. A serious stocktake of roles and required skillset. We talk about players having to meet standards,so must officials and leaders show vision in support of players and management. If the attitude is " a shur thats not practical and anyway we are only volunteers trying to do the best we can" That volunteer was given the honour of serving in a critical role, and the honour carries huge responsibility. I do believe a more modern approach to serving in key roles as outlined would be more attractive to those with the appropriate skillset anyway !

Im very excited for 24 now to be honest. I was, like most people, very down in the dumps after last year's League and Leinster championship but the fact the team bounced back and won the Tailteann Cup in such circumstances gives me a lot of hope. Personally, I didnt see it coming after the Offaly game.

Meath are still a growing team. It's difficult to see where the next step ought to be but I would say a strong Div.2 campaign would be good, hopefully promotion but 3/4 wins would be good in my eyes. As always it will be hard fought. Aside from that the fact that they have an automatic entry in the Last 16 is very interesting. If all falls right they could be a very dangerous opposition for a Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, Armagh level team etc in a one-off game and could push for a final 8 finish if they have one or two big performances in them. That is a big "if" however. Those teams are the next step. This Meath team needs to take a scalp or two. I happen to think the gap between Div 1-2 is closing and in the next few years I can see a few teams coming onto the major scene and one or two others regressing out. Meath could be one of those teams.

The glaring ommission I have left out is the Leinster Championship. To me, it is the sacrifical lamb of the three competitions. The team may look at it differently but at this point, I actually dont care about it. The new structures have effectively spelled the beginning of the end of the provincial championships. It will limp on for a while yet but they'll go in the next ten years or so I would imagine.

On a more personal note, I want to see more of what we saw in the TC final. Lads playing with a smile on their faces. For so long we hadnt seen that. The joy and celebration of the panel and management at the end really hit me hard to be honest as aside from 2010 (which I dont count) and 1999 (when I was very young), I never saw a Meath senior men's team lift a trophy, and Im not that young. It was almost like a pressure release valve. A consolidation. A foundation. It was great to see more traditional Meath values as well; big, big men around the middle, early kick passing, physical tackling and turnovers, and staying power in tight matches (The two Down games). All of these are great bedrock to build on from, with more young talent coming through as well I genuinely think this is as optimistic as I have been in a long time. Not getting carried away or swept up in hype, but optimistic.

Not techie enough to know how to start a new tread ....so popping this one in here under the next most appropriate heading......So, After watching Dublin Ladies steamroll another Al Ireland , two thoughts struck me...The first was immense pride to know & acknowledge what was achieved by the Group in 2021 & 2022 in stopping that Dublin Machine ..and claiming back to back senior all irelands...and then the second was sadness , and concern that whatever issues occurred this year , ultimately lead to a huge missed opportunity for Us as a County to Continue to shine and dominate. How i wished we were there yesterday "at full tilt"..matching up against that Dublin Team ...You never really know what you Miss , until its too late & its gone

Understand there's going to be a big shake up in the management for next season.

At least two members of the backroom team are gone.

Eugene Ivers told he won't be involved with the Meath senior footballers next year by the county board. He'll be replaced by someone already in full time employment by Meath GAA. Paul Garrigan has stepped away too. Big losses considering they were two of the few bringing some organisation to a very chaotic setup. If same management structure is kept and a new coach is brought in we won't be any further down the line at the end of next year. The wrong people are going and that's what worries me.

Think when joined the ladies it was a sign that things weren't well within the camp. Pity. But need a decent coach who knows modern football for next year to even stay in division 2 Need these appointments done asap.

I think COR said additions to backroom team were likely some months back. We dont know the circumstances . Personally i think coaching needs to be strenghtened regardless which is the only issue , coupled with training sessions structured to on field playing needs identified at this point.

If Garrgian has indeed stepped away this isn't a surprise to me.

All the teams I've seen that he has been involved with over the years and in particular the meath ladies you could see his stamp on the team in terms of structure and defensive organisation .

For me there was little or no trace of his stamp at all on this Meath team this season which would suggest to me he wasn't getting a big input .

Allot of misinformation gets posted up on this site, the individual posting about garrigan and eivers leaving was the same lad who talked about Jordan Morris being dropped during the year, these are all just rumours, maybe it's true maybe it's not but either way we'll know the truth in a few months.

Fair comment ! Thats why i believe the issue is HOW we might be able to improve by working on weaknesses . WHO does what is irrelevant as long as the aim is to improve

Indeed plenty of rumours going about. But my only worry regarding this is that I think one of those mentioned might be in line for ladies job. Not 100% but it's what a farther of one of the girls said.

This is true. Got impression they weren't getting much of a look in with likes of O Callaghan, Bray and Curtis there. Even Shane Supple (very impressive man) may have been having more of a say and influence. Wasn't a great sign when they went to help out the ladies again mid season.

I never mentioned anything about Morris leaving?? You must be mixing me up with someone else? The news of the two lads leaving is now official.

According to Fergal Lynch on LMFM, the two lads were gotten rid of rather than stepped away themselves. Also high profile coaches have been linked as replacements.
