As the one ticket?

All great names within Meath, but I think Id need to see a big name Coach in there who has a few top achievments under his belt.

Failing that, I dont see it fixing the problems we currently have...

Won a county and Leinster with Ballymun in 2013. Has had plenty of club jobs since with little or no success.

A mediocre couple of years with Celbridge as well as an average few years with Oliver Plunketts. Won a senior 2 Championship with Cuala which is basically an intermediate championship and they were too good to be in it anyway.

As for helping Thomas Davis back to relevance. I'm not really sure what that means to be honest. It's a bit of a reach IMO. They came back to relevance only a few years back when they made the Dublin senior final and he wasn't involved.

He wouldn't be one I'd be excited about getting involved to be honest.

My biggest concern is we could very easily regress further and quickly with the wrong appointment.

I think Brian rightly pointed out that the younger guys
Coming through haven't taken up the mantle yet, which is true although I think they are still too young. For me meath need the experienced heads to stick around for another few years and to be the core of the group. That's keogan, menton, o Sullivan primarily for me. Could add Harnan and McGill also. My biggest worry is that we end up with an uninspiring appointment and a few of those won't commit. They have been on the road a long time and owe Meath nothing.

If we lost either keogan or menton the impact would be huge. Without menton in league we looked rudderless. It's important we appoint someone who gives the group a lift. Otherwise we could fall further.

Before anyone starts with "why would they leave" etc these are guys who have shouldered the load for years now and will need to see ambition.

This isn't a slight on the younger lads as the need a bit of time . It really is a pivotal moment I feel given where the panel is at with some very promising younger talent and established players who we still rely on.

It is a credit to the three man committee that they have kept their business water tight. It hasn't seeped into the local and national media which is very important. The only parts that have got into the national and local media relate to the Flynn candidacy and this came from his camp presumably.

He announced it himself during his Croke park legends tour!

Very true & fair play to them.

Flynn released it himself, seen a tweet from Shane Cassells confirming it after the legends tour in Croke Park. So out from that, everything has been hearsay really. I've seen nothing in print on a single other candidate being in for it

Some big names of Meath football in there no doubt and three of the four would make my all time Meath team but that lack of experience would be a major concern to me.Very little inter county experience and not much club experience (management)either.Surely they would need some experienced coach beside them.Fair play to them for putting their names forward and know doubt they have the respect of the majority of the county and players but the lack of experience would worry me.

Agree, we are at a crossroads at the moment and things could go further downhill quickly. Important we get new management team right, doing so may convince older lads to stay on, as you said these players have been around a while and little to show for it. For me its not just about the manager, he has to have a top class team in place who he will listen too, big name is great and once all the boxes are ticked we then need a big slice of luck that the sum of all the parts can come together.

Yep thats my thinking and as Joe said the youngers lads (Costello etc) aren't ready yet to take on the mantle and shouldn't have too, and the wrong appointment might see Menton and Donal departing, and may impact on McGill, Harnan, McEntee's and Cillian. Also need to consider would Seamus Lavin be willing to come back into the fold with the right appointment, if he's coming back into football.

100% a top class trainer is needed and we can't just rely on Flynn, Giles, Geraghty and Biggy as a ticket as none of them have the coaching ability to do it. The fact Flynn has leaked that he''s in a well as the leaks and embarrassment around the U20's last year would rule him out for me. media leaks need to be nipped in the bud right now

Absolutely, they days of one man running the show are gone, it takes so much to make a side competitive then one man. I do think for all we could regress quickly, you could also see a big leap forward if we get it right.

We could appoint the right man, see strides in next two years while nash comes back at some point to bring them on further with the young talent like Frayne etc bedding in.

We could get it wrong and really lose the best young talent we have seen in a while.

Lavin was and is a huge blow, he is a top drawer player for me.

Well joe. Over the past couple of days everything has clammed up. My source (won't mention anyone) has said the committee have closed up and nothing is getting out. The only thing I know is Flynn (his own admission) fitzmorris (widely know about) and the club who nominated geraghty.
If I were to wager I think the expense bill of EF might scare the cb, and the committee might go with Flynn. But and I'm quoting my source here "Flynn had agreed to let the u20 play with seniors, and he got nervous about how well they'd do (or lack of after challenge games) and looked for a excuse " the cb are very split on him and he might not get through, so the compromise imo will be a joint management ala Tyrone, with Flynn and geraghty . I think I stated early on that Flynn wanted geraghty and biggy on his ticket geraghty been nominated himself put a little spanner in the works. But with joint management and biggy and perhaps Giles or O'Malley along with scully would be where my money is going at the minute, cb won't go for Flynn on his own geraghty is the selling point.

They have all been good men since Sean Boylan ,but there was a failure to unearth an exceptional strategic thinker to get something outside the box. Hopefully it can be done but track record not hopeful

Why do you think none of the lads you mentioned would have the ability to coach Meath .
A good manager manages and surrounds himself with good coaches
I actually believe Flynn and Geraghty are the perfect pair to take over Meath 2 ex players the lads look up too .
What we have witnessed over the last couple of years its hard to say whos qualified to coach any team .
Andy ended up a disappointment not the first wont be the last other countys have went through similar disappointments .
I just hope the county board get it right and who ever the new man in is has the best players in the county playing for us .

Yeah and that is all good but it is any better than what Mc Dermott has done...

Down to two candidates who will be decided on this week or early next I think, Flynn is one and I believe Eamon is the other but I'm not 100% on that. McDermott is not likely.
